Have Your Say on Applications 22/P/01966 & 24/P/01457 Before February 6th

Following the quashing of planning permission 22/P/01966 by Order of the High Court, both this application 22/P/01966 and the new application for the same site 24/P/01457 will be re-determined by Guildford Borough Council (GBC).

To ensure that both applications are determined by GBC’s Planning Committee you will need to submit at least 20 comments/objections for BOTH applications 22/P/01966 and 24/P/01457 before the 6th of February.

All grounds of the challenge were found to have merit by the deputy high court judge, as set out in the schedule of reasons on the final page of the Consent Order which can be found on our website: : https://sendparishcouncil.gov.uk/planning-permission-22-p-01966-has-been-quashed/

Send Parish Council is already working on preparations for when the application returns to Guildford Borough Council’s planning committee and the new application to ensure that all the evidence is before the committee and the policies for the River Wey Corridor and Conservation Area are given full consideration.

The key points we will make, and you may wish to include in your comments:

  • An appraisal of Policy D13, is not limited to the ‘visual’ impact on the River Wey Navigation Conservation Area but that the Corridor and its environs form part of the visual setting, the ecological and historic interest of the Wey Navigations, which is a heritage asset.
  • The Corridor is spatially delineated in the Send Neighbourhood Plan (SNDP) policies map.
  • The Conservation Area Officer has identified ‘harm’ by the proposed developments to the River Wey Navigations Conservation Area.
  • A Local Plan is designed to bring forward housing and meet ‘need’, but a Local Plan should also ‘protect’ other areas due to their special features. The GBC Local Plan (adopted in 2019) is failing to give this planning balance when meeting housing targets is given more consideration than any of these other policies.
