Reporting Issues to Guildford Borough

You can report various issues in your area to Guildford Borough online. These include amongst others:

  • Fly Tipping
  • Missed bin collections
  • Noise, Litter and Grafitti
  • Problems with your garage

Reporting Issues to Surrey County Council

Highways and road maintenance, including potholes, comes under the responsibility of Surrey County Council. They also take care of pathways, pavements and street lighting.

You can make Roads and Transport related reports to Surrey County Council online for:

  • Potholes
  • Highway Problems
  • Faulty Streetlighting
  • Pavements
  • Overgrown vegetation or grass cutting
  • Drainage and flooding
  • Salting and Gritting

Recycling

There are no recycling bins located in the village itself. The nearest recycling facilities are at Sainsbury’s in Burpham or at the local tip site in Woking.  There are also extensive recycling facilities at Slyfield on the edge of Guildford.

GBC collects recycling from the kerbside every two weeks.

Please put your green wheelie bins out by 6.30 am on your scheduled collection day. You can check what materials can be recycled in your green bin at the Guildford Borough Council website but it is worth noting that:

  • Textiles, in tied bags, can also be put out next to your recycling bin;
  • Small electrical goods, in tied bags can be put out next to the refuse bin; and
  • Batteries can be put into a clear sandwich bag and placed on top of your green recycling bin for collection

The food waste caddies are also collected weekly. The dark green caddy should be placed next to your recycling or refuse bins for collection. Please do not place loose food into your caddy. Food should instead be tied in plastic bags, pedal bin liners, bread bags, salad bags or newspaper. DO NOT put the small food caddy into the large caddy on collection day: please move the contents across if you run out of space.  Otherwise, it can be very messy and unpleasant for the refuse collectors to retrieve your small caddies that have fallen into the waste lorry!

GBC also collects garden waste in brown wheelie bins (ordered from the council) and this requires an annual subscription fee which can be paid for online or by calling the Customer Service Team on 01483 444499 (option 1) – you will need your debit or credit card and email address. Cheque payments are no longer accepted. They also have subsidised composters, green cones and wormeries for sale.

BLACK REFUSE BINS

Households in our borough are limited to one black refuse bin unless:

  • there are five or more people living permanently in your household (including children). In which case you may apply for one additional refuse bin.
  • or a member of your household has a medical condition which means you have a lot of non-recyclable waste. This will be assessed on a case by case basis to decide how many bins your household needs. (An extra bin cannot be given for disposing of nappies from babies or toddlers.)
