TAKING CARE OF EACH OTHER
At the end of this section there are links to the central government, county and borough websites where you can get more information on the Coronavirus (COVID-19), what actions you should take and how to seek help.
Send Parish Council remains open but in order to follow the government guidance on social distancing, we ask that resident’s call the parish office instead of attending in person until further notice.
There may come a time when the parish office will have to close, and our staff move to working from home. Should that happen the council will endeavour to maintain the parish phone line (01483 479312) working during parish office hours.
Central government guidance continues to evolve but it is clear that measures being introduced to prevent the spread of infection will result in many people being confined to their home, many of whom may not have family locally who can help them.
Government and NHS resources will be focused on those most in need, so support in and by the community will be key in allowing Send to manage the next few months.
To this end, the parish council:
- is requesting local groups and organisations to provide support in the community where they operate
- is asking all residents to work with their neighbours to check-in on each other and offer help when and where needed
- will continue to provide regular updates using Facebook, SendInfo, the parish council website and where appropriate the parish notice boards.
The parish council may need to cancel upcoming council and planning committee meetings. As and when Guildford Borough Council’s planning committee provides guidance on how planning applications will be managed in the coming months, the parish council will share that.
The Villages Medical Centre has changed all GP appointments to GP telephone appointments and their website provides guidance on what to do if you are unwell. (Telephone: 01483 226330)
The Local Foodbank depends on donations so please remember them during your supermarket shopping.
Send Help will continue to provide assistance but mainly to their existing clients.
Who does what?
Different services and government agencies are responsible for leading different parts of the response:
- Department for Health and Social Care: the Chief Medical Officer for England confirms each incident
- Public Health England: co-ordinate the response, information and advice on the Coronavirus (Covid-19)
- NHS: local and national NHS services are working on the front line to test individuals, treat and provide advice through calls to NHS 111
- Surrey County Council: provides local public health leadership by working in partnership to safeguard the county
