Hema and Kirit Patel on their retirement

After more than 30 years running the Post Office in Send, Kirit Patel closed up the Post Office for the last time on Thurday 7 May, when the it moved to McColls at the parade of shops.  Kirit and his wife Hema have been at the heart of village life for longer than most residents can remember and will be sadly missed by all.  The depth of feeling of the villagers was shown by the village Facebook post on the closure receiving 3588 visits!!

Always willing to go the extra mile to help, the couple were presented with flowers and a "Thank You" card at the Parish Council meeting on 20th April. The shop closes on the 23rd May and the Patels will be retiring.  But with a large and close family and a proposal in the planning pipeline to convert the property into larger living accommodation, it's unlikely they will be putting their feet up any time soon!
